Offense-Defense Coaching

Testing

At Offense-Defense, we obviously take instruction seriously.  After-all, you can't teach great football without great teachers.  That's why at one time or another we've employed 30 of the current 32 NFL Head Coaches as coaches at our football camps.  In fact we're so committed to providing the most excellent instruction around that we will not hire anyone who has not at least coached at the collegiate level.  Every year we guarantee a solid mix of qualified collegiate-level instructors as well as a respectable number of coaches who get paid to play their trade at the very highest level of competition, the NFL.

To teach the best, we hire the best.  That's the Offense-Defense way.

Members of our prestigious coaching roster that will be coaching this summer include the following:

Kelvin Martin – Martin played in 10 NFL seasons from 1987 to 1996 for the Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks, and Philadelphia Eagles.  In 1990, Martin led the Cowboys in receptions with 63.  Mr. Martin has since been involved heavily in the instruction and skills training of thousands of youth football players each year, lending a player-coach eye to the selection process.

Learn from the very BEST!

Richard Solomon – A 3-year letterman at the University of Iowa, Solomon went on to coach at Southern Illinois and Iowa before latching on with the Orangemen in Syracuse where he coached, among others, Art Monk during his time there.  Solomon then moved on to take the defensive coordinator job at Illinois before becoming a scout for the New York Giants helping to put the pieces in place for their 2nd Superbowl title.  Afterwards, he spent 10 years as a scout for the Vikings and another 4 with the Cardinals.

Bill Urbanik – Urbanik was the defensive line coach for Super Bowl XXIII runners-up Cincinnati.  Besides coaching with the Bengals, Urbanik also coached with the Raiders, Sacramento in the Canadian Football League and New York-New Jersey in the XFL.  He’s also worked as a scout for the Oakland Raiders and Arizona Cardinals.

Bobby Guarini – In a coaching career spanning decades, Guarini got his start as an Offensive Line coach for the United States Merchant Marine Academy before a stint at Rutgers where he filled a variety of coaching needs, chiefly spending time as a Defensive Backs coach, Running Backs coach, and Offensive Line coach.  His first professional coaching opportunity presented itself across the border with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL which prepared him well for his return to the United States where Guarini landed jobs with both the Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts.

David Brown - In his first season at Ohio, Brown's cornerback corps boasted two of the nation's leaders in passes defended.  Overall, the Bobcat pass defense finished third in the MAC and 18th in the nation. Ohio was also 15th in the country in pass efficiency defense.  Brown also works with the Bobcats' punt return unit. Ohio was third in the MAC and 15th in the nation, averaging 13.11 yards per attempt.

Ray Sherman - Sherman begins his 34th year in coaching, his 20th as an NFL assistant and his first with the Dallas Cowboys this fall after spending the two previous seasons with the Tennessee Titans. No stranger to potent receiving corps, Sherman will be working with one of the most productive receiving combinations in team history in Terry Glenn and Terrell Owens. In 2006, the duo became just the second pair of receivers in club history to top 1,000 yards.

Larry Kirksey - Kirksey has been coaching for 33 years. He has spent over 10 years in the NFL with stops at San Francisco (1994 to 1999), Detroit (2001 to 2002), Jacksonville (2003), a volunteer at Denver (2004) and currently is the WR coach for the Houston Texans. He has tutored the likes of Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Terrell Owens, Jimmy Smith, Johnny Morton, Ed McCaffrey, Andre Johnson and J. J. Stokes.

Tony Collins - Collins attended East Carolina University and was selected in the second round of the 1981 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 1983 and he played in Super Bowl XX as a member of the Patriots. His final year was in 1990 with the Miami Dolphins.
